Plate, buff coloured earthenware, circular shape with inset base within a flattened-off foot-rim, curving sides and spreading rim; covered all over with a blue-tinged tin-glaze, this then painted in blue with to the upperside of the plate a river scene showing in the foreground two figures in a small boat which is punted by a third figure on an expanse of water, in the background a collection on buildings with trees and distant hills, a tall tree dominates one side of the scene, small flocks of birds fly over the scene.
