Roman mortar torching
Mortar torching showing imbrex over imbrex, both of the usual curvature. The upper part of each imbrex would have overlapped the flanges of the tegulae whilst its lower part would have overlapped the next imbrex in line, as here. The end of the piece has been carefully smoothed where it was visible at the opening of the upper tile.
