Plate, of coarse, grainy, pale buff earthenware, standing on an even base, pitted with grit, rounded sides, forming a deep central well, then flaring to form a broad rim; under side unglazed, of mottled pale buff colour, upper side with a creamy yellow glaze, streaked with manganese brown, over painted on the rim, probably at a later date with gilding, then over painted again, or possibly oxidised to form a dark green/black upper layer.
