Sculpture
Clay sculpture made during Black History Month 2020 by a group of prisoners at HMP Parc prison, Bridgend, as a response to the disproportionate number of Black, Asian and minority ethnic men in the prison system in Wales. The sculpture is made from fired clay, painted with PVA glue. Eighteen small heads sit on shelves within an upright rectangle clay unit representing a prison building. The heads are behind jail bars made from thin strips of bamboo. Inscription on front: 'HMP / BLM / THE OVER REPRESENTATION BAME MEN IN PRISON / BAME'.
