Military uniform trousers. Dark blue with 1 scarlet stripe; the main fabric is tabby woven but the red is made from fulled wool. 6 black plastic button closure at front; 5 of the buttons are marked with 'ALKIT LTD CAMBRIDGE CIRCUS W.C.2'; the top button is unmarked. 4 further buttons on outside (front), and 2 on inside (rear) along waist for attachment of braces; three of these are original with the same marking as described above, but the other three have been replaced with ones of cream and white plastic. Waist lined with strip of fine white cotton over a black glazed cotton interlining. Small pocket lined with a stiffer type of white cotton at proper right waist; The waistline to the front of pocket slightly curves downward to facilitate access. Black glazed fabric facing on proper right side of front clousure. Same glazed fabric used as lining of covered button holes. Leather straps with 1-prong steel buckle are stitched to the cuff of the leg to secure underneath boots. Cuffs of legs are shaped and rise to a peak above the boots. Single turn-backs at leg cuffs are hand stitched.
