Rugby cap
Rugby cap made from brown velvet; Prince of Wales feathers metal thread embroidery at centre front; 1882-83, 1883-84, 1885 metal thread embroidery on peak; cap is constucted of 6 triangular pieces of velvet that are joined together; brown cotton sateen lining imitates this construction; card-board interlining: stiff card in peak and softer card around outside edge; metal braid stitched around outer lower edge, encapsulates the outer edge of peak, and narrow metal braids cover the 6 seams that join the pieces of velvet. wooden domed shape covered with metal purl wire at top of crown; hanging from it is a metal purl tassle.
