Puzzle jug
Dillwyn & Co., Cambrian Pottery (1811 - 1817 and 1824 - 1850)
Pouch shaped puzzle jug, of creamy white earthenware, standing on an octagonal foot rim, the body, bulbous at the base and ribbed to form broad, slightly convex panels, the neck pierced with hearts, lozenges, circles and ovals, a tube, emerging from the handle, running around the interior circumfrence of the neck below the pierced area connected to three protruding ribbed cylinders, terminating in lion head masks, the mouths forming the spouts; the lip rim waved, with a raised spout; hollow, ogee handle with foliate moulding and raised thumb spur; transfer printed in green with bouquets of flowers and shells; filigree lace effect border to lip rim, spouts and handle.
