Roman samian bowl, stamped
He frequently used the plant and S-shaped gadroons. The decoration is partly obliterated by a deep score mark which probably conceals the hare D.945. The blurred motif above the stamp is almost certainly his triple medallion. All these details appear on a stamped bowl of his at London (BM M554), which could be from the same mould as this piece. M. Crestion only used one die, always on decorated ware. Although he occasionally made Forms 29 and 30, the bulk of his output is Form 37.
Dr 37 is a hemispherical decorated bowl
