Jug, earthenware, standing on a thickly rounded foot-rim, bulbous body composed of six convex panels divided by vertical incised lines, cylindrical neck flaring slightly to the mouth, lobed lip-rim, wide elongated beak spout, half of which is broken off, high loop handle with raised foliate moulded thumb-spur, a band of moulded anthemions to the shoulder and to the exterior lip-rim and spout, a moulded foliate motif to the underside of the spout and beneath the handle; transfer-printed in black with the 'Swiss Sketches' pattern, to the exterior body and neck four different scenes showing figures, ornate chalet-style buildings, trees and distant mountains, a spray of flowers and foliage to the exterior body below the spout, the moulded foliate motif below the spout outlined in black, a black band to the interior lip-rim and spout, black anthemions to the handle.
