Jug and cover
Jug, hard-paste porcelain,standing on a short cylindrical foot-rim, bulbous body sloping inwards to a cylindrical neck, plain beak spout, twisted loop handle with foliate moulding to the terminals, domed cover elongating out to a point where it covers the spout, the finial broken off so that only the moulded leaves and flower heads around its base remain; the jug decorated in polychrome enamels with to either side of the body a finely painted landscape scene, one showing a female figure standing against a background of trees, the other showing a male figure, around the neck of the jug and the rim of the cover a border of green oval shapes arranged diagonally and interlaced with gilt foliate sprays, the spout decorated with gilt foliate scrolls, the handle decorated with gilt stylized leaves, gilt bands around the foot-rim and lip-rim, the moulded leaves and flowers to the handle painted in green and yellow.
