Medieval pottery vessel
Gower/Lower Tawe - calcite gritted (fabric 3) Grey fabric containing medium sized quartz and calcite grits with some small gravels; surfaces vary considerably in colour from brown through to orange, and some may be sooted. The rim form is notable for its tendancy to have a bell-like flare, in contrast to the majority of vessels at Loughor, frequently with a raised bead at the outer, upper edge of the rim, which frequently has an internal bevel. Vessel walls are thin, often leading to a break at the junction of wall and rim.
