Oak, coopered body, barrel shaped tapering towards a cylindrical collar, of ash, with 6 iron band and a pierced oak lid complete with plunger.Knocker or plunger churn in the form of a coopered oak barrel, tapering from the base towards a cylindrical collar of ash, with six iron bands. Complete with lid and plunger. The plunger with a long wooden handle would be worked up and down and rotated to churn the butter. Used during the winter months in Penrhiw, Salem, around 1900, when only a little butter was made.
