Sampler
CANVAS, unbleached, embroidered with coloured wools in cross stitch. Divided into three horizontal compartments by narrow bands of ornament. In the first compartment, in four rows commencing with a cross, are Roman capital letters of the alphabet and numerals to 10; in the second, in three rows commencing with a cross, are Gothic letters of the alphabet and the name "c:c:aJ: desneu". The third compartment contains detached floral, bird, dog, key and anchor designs and the date "1839". There is a narrow varied border of zig-zag and floral wavy stem.
