Plate, earthenware, circular shape with rounded foot-rim and curving spreading sides; to the centre of the well a polychrome transfer-print of 'The Truant', a scene showing two small children hiding to one side of an open doorway though which can be glimpsed several other children with books and a seated female figure, to the bottom of the scene is the small inscription "T. Webster 1834", the scene enclosed by a circular border of a looping green ribbon between two gilt bands, wide border to the rim of a running pattern of oak leaves and acorns on a greenish ground, a gilt edge to the rim.
