Dillwyn & Co., Cambrian Pottery (1811 - 1817 and 1824 - 1850)
Small pearlware plate, press moulded, recessed footring, notched rim, rim moulded with six panels of dove with olive branch alternating with flowers. Plate printed in underglaze blue: 'THE AGES OF MAN' under rim, and 'Sixth age fhifts in to the lean age ..per'd pantaloon, with spectacle / on nose, and pounch inside' under central design of an old man sitting on a chair (right), wearing a long coat, spectacles and cap and reading a book. Tripod table (left) with two candles burnt low, an almost emptied egg timer and a snuffer(?).
