Two extracts from J. Downes, The Mountain Decameron, 1836, vol. i, p.82; vol. iii, pp.232-6, concerning a Welsh burial custom and describes "The last 'Sin Eater' in Wales", from Machynlleth. Sin eating was the custom of eating a ritual meal in order to take on the sins of a recently deceased person.
