Suit jacket
Black suit jacket worn by Gerald Fitz Walker (1930-96) who emigrated from Jamaica to Port Talbot in the 1960s. Born in St Mary, Jamaica, he married Ivy May Leslie (also of Jamaica) in 1967. They lived in Enfield Street, Port Talbot, where they raised eight children.
Single-breasted suit jacket of black wool twill with 1-button fastening. The jacket has welt pockets at either hip (of which the proper right one has an additional, smaller, interior pocket), a slash pocket on left chest and inner welt pocket on right chest. Black lining with woven pattern of vertical stripes. Sleeves are lined with cream coloured synthetic fabric. Collar is lined with a black tabby woven fabric which has a raised nap. Two vertical darts above hip pockets to shape the garment.
