Tureen and cover of soft-paste porcelain with white (the cover) and creamy (the tureen) translucency; standing on a spreading pedestal foot with turned step; circular body with curved sides and concave shoulder, a turned ridge at the shoulder and a turned incised line below the rim; spindle handles with floral embossed discs and mask terminals; painted on each side with flower sprays, gilt lines round the foot, shoulder and rim, a gilt seaweed band round the shoulder, the handles gilt. The cover with ogee-curved profile, pineapple finial and a notch for a ladle; painted on each side with flower sprays and with a blue butterfly; a gilt line round the edge, the finial gilt.
