M.V. AGATE, negative
¾ Port bow view of M.V. AGATE entering Cardiff Docks.
Built 1941 by Goole Shipbuilding Company as EMPIRE FORELAND for the Ministry of War & Transport (MoWT). 1945 – Sold to Williamstown Shipping Co., and renamed NORFOLKBROOK 1950 – Renamed AGATE for William Robertson's "Gem" Line 1961 – Sold to Di Guido Pio Tomei, Italy, and renamed SILVANA TOMEI. 1972 – Acquired by the Naval Protector, Italy, and renamed SABBIATORE PRIMO. She was converted to a non-self -propelled barge in 1984. Her final demise is unknown. (mariners-l.co.uk/EmpireF)
