Seal impression: Durham Episcopal
Under a triple gothic-type canopy, centre. the bishop standing in pontificals; the lack of heraldry may indicate his lowly origins. Above the canopy, the numeral : III (Cf. E140), Dext. St. Cuthbert holding St. Oswald's head; sin. St. Oswald holding a sceptre. Both saints' stand on animals' (? heads).
