Embroidery, sample
Crewel work embroidery. Piece of twill, embroidered with blue and yellow wools in chain and stem stitches. The pattern is of two oak trees with acorns between which is a Ieaf design which seems to have been cut from a different piece of embroidery and applied. The applied work is contemporary with the rest of the design. Probably part of a bed curtain. End of the 17th century. From Anglesey.
