The Baltimore chapter of the American Red Cross found the ice of Lake Roland thick enough yesterday for the first time in six years to demonstrate techniques of saving people from freezing water. In the staging, city policemen and rangers from the Maryland State Department of Forests and Parks acted as rescuers of Shirley Grimes, a Red Cross worker, and Gary Kerr, a volunteer.
