Cardiff Docks, negative
A new boiler for paddle steamer BRITANNIA being off-loaded from a low-loader road trailer on which it had travelled from Glasgow to Cardiff Docks. Because of the boiler's weight, the lifting operation had to be carried out by 100-ton floating crane SIMSON III. The vessel was being converted to oil firing.
P.S. BRITANNIA. Built in 1896 by S. McKnight & Co., Aire. She was renamed HMS Briton during World War I and HMS Skiddaw during World War 2. (1896-1956).
