Pleistocene mammoth tooth
An adult mammoth molar tooth. The crown is not heavily worn. The tooth has sheared along the plates, but has been reconstructed back to a near complete tooth. The roots are damaged and absent and also part of one side of the tooth is missing too. Some of this damage is recent, but much of it is ancient. The tooth, where stained, is a yellowish brown colour. The recent breaks show it as being white.
