Box, toothbrush and cover
Toothbrush box, earthenware, in the shape of a round-ended oblong with flat base, vertical sides and flaring everted waved rim, an inner flange within the rim, two curving partitions across the well of the box extending a short way up the sides, domed cover in the shape of a round-ended oblong, an incised band around the top of the cover, to the top of the cover an upright loop handle moulded in the form of scrolling foliage with a flower head in the centre; transfer-printed in flow blue with to the top of the cover a scaled down version of the 'Whampoa' pattern showing a collection of elaborate pagodas linked by bridges and fences with a spreading willow-like tree hanging over them, border to the exterior sides of the box, the rim of the box and and rim of the cover of flower heads, foliage and scrolls on a scale blue ground.
