Night shirt
Man's nightshirt, early 1900s. Worn in St David's, Pembrokeshire.
Long, tabby woven with blue stripes on cream ground, patch pocket on left chest, three mother-of-pearl button opening at neck and one button closure at cuffs. Rear is longer than front. Lower corners are rounded and side slits, as well as slits at lower sleeves, are reinforced with small triangular gusset of self fabric. Yoke across shoulders. Below yoke at upper centre back is a box pleat. Pattern of narrow and wide stripes created from light and dark blue warps. No selvages visible, therefore full width of woven fabric is wider than width of shirt.
