Jug and cover
Jug, hard-paste porcelain, standing on a rounded spreading foot-rim, pear-shaped body, beak spout with moulded scrolls to the underside, double-curved scrolled handle with raised moulding to the shoulder, domed cover with a pineapple finial to the top; finely painted in polychrome enamels with to either side of the exterior body of the jug scenes showing European birds perching on branches and tree stumps, around the rest of the exterior body of the jug scattered insects including a butterfly and ladybirds, around the neck of the jug and the top of the cover looping swags of flowers and foliage tied at the top by blue ribbons, the lip-rim of the jug, the spout, the rim of the cover and the base of the finial edged in gilt, the handle and the moulded scrolls to the underside of the spout picked out in gilt. The cover broken and repaired, the flange of the cover chipped.
