Nantgarw China Works (1813 - 1822)
Plate, soft-paste porcelain, good clear translucency, and lustrous glaze with slight green tinge; standing on a shallow straight sided foot rim, the lip moulded in six large and six small lobes and with the standard Nantgarw moulding of C-scrolls, ribbon tied-foliage wreaths and flowers; painted in the centre with an exotic pigeon-like bird with purple body, head and feet, green barred wings and brown tail, in a landscape flanked by flowers and reeds and with a faintly painted tree in the background; six sprays of flowers and fruit around the edge, including a bird on a rose spray and a butterfly with a spray of red currants; gilt scallop-edged lip.
