Harry, Williams (Newport College of Art)
Photograph captioned 'No. 1 Slant, Great Mountain Colliery, Tumble, Carmarthenshire. Coal has been mined in different ways, from pits entered by vertical shafts, from horizontal levels and as suggested in this photograph from a slant or drift mine. The view is outwards from a short way inside the entrance of the slant. The slope of the ground inwards is seen in the narrow gauge rails and the steel rope which runs between them.' Mounted on card.
