Seal impression: Personal seal
Against a field diapered with quatrefoils, a cinquefoil in each compartment, the 4th Earl of Salisbury on horseback riding to sinister and in armour, his helmet bearing a coronet out of which rises the crest: a griffin’s head between (on fine impressions) a pair of wings. His right hand holds his sword aloft, secured by a chain to his shoulder; his shield: three fusils or lozenges conjoined in fess, MONTACUTE. Horse caparisoned and plumed.
