Roman samian bowl
Neat moulding. The main zone of decoration is a winding scroll with arrowheads in the lower concavities and fringed heart-shaped leaves in the upper. There are two leaf wreaths below this zone, the basal one being a simple chevron leaf, the upper an unusual large four-leaved motif. The border between the two leaf wreaths is a bead-row, and above the upper wreath, a row of rosettes.
The use of the bead-row, the plain chevron wreath and indeed, the larger leafy wreath, all suggest the work of Germanus.
