Mug, pearlware, cylindrical sides, plain loop handle; transfer-printed in brown under the glaze and infilled with underglaze blue and with orange and yellow enamels, with an equestrian portrait of the Duke of York with an army and cannons in a landscape behind, around the lower body is printed the inscription "His Royal Highness FREDERICK DUKE OF YORK", a lattice and flower pattern border to the handle and around the interior lip-rim.
