Waistcoat
Tiley, Miss June (Vera June Tiley (1925-1998). Born in Swansea, lived in Dinas Powys. Textile artist and fashion designer. Studied at Cardiff College of Art (1941-45); Royal College of Art, London (1945). Cited in Peter W. Jones & Isabel Hitchman, *Post-War to Post-Modern: A Dictionary of Artists in Wales* (2015).)
Waistcoat (matching skirt). Awarded first prize in the Arts & Crafts competition at the National Eisteddfod held in Cardiff, 1978. Square neck and arm holes. Body consists of woven panels of rag strips in mauve, red and dark beige. Shoulders and upper back in cotton applied patchwork (matching skirt), red silk lining. Sides and front opening edged with fringe and cut fabric. Fastens with two pairs of dark mauve silk ribbon.
