Early Medieval stone quern
Fragment of the upper part of a large rotary quernstone of plano-convex section. The flat grinding surface is pitted but shows considerable wear. The external diameter is difficult to calculate accurately because of the irregular external curvature. Tool marks are visible on the upper surface which appears to have been made with a point or pick hammer.
