Roman silver ligula
Medical or toilet implement of uncertain date, in four pieces and a little bent. The shaft tapers to a point at one end and has an octagonal cross-section; the other end has a tiny sub-spherical spoon or scoop with the handle linked to the widest part of the shaft by a twisted section. The widest portion of the shaft is decorated on alternate faces with lines of'V-shaped' punches.
