Barges on the Glamorganshire Canal, North Road, Cardiff. Two barges are seen manouvering for position at the lock gate in North Road, Cardiff (near the Welsh Office). The horses await on the towpath for the barges to clear the lock gates. Cargoes of coal and iron had long been brought down the canal from the Merthyr Valleys.
