Brynlliw Colliery, photograph
Underground view of coal face in the Six Feet Seam at Brynlliw Colliery. The seam, varying in thickness from 3' 1" to 7' 3", does not lend itself to to fully mechanised longwall mining and caused the management to re-think the system of working.
