Tea bowl and saucer, hard-paste porcelain, simple hemispherical cup of teabowl form, standing on a shallow footring, rounded sides, decorated on the front in polychrome enamels with an insect flying into the surface in rust-red and puce, above a band of foliage in greens and brown, back painted with a spray of foliage in a similar palette, gilt line at lip and foot. Saucer, standing on a shallow footring, decorated in the centre with a butterfly with an inky violet and brown thorax and wings, the latter reserved with four rundels in pale blue and brown, above two sprays of foliage, gilt line at lip.
