Pot-lid
Pot-lid, earthenware, circular shape with cylindrical flange and convex top; the upperside of the lid decorated with an underglaze polychrome transfer-print of 'A Letter from the Diggings', showing an interior kitchen setting with standing and seated figures, one holding a letter, and a seated dog in the foreground, to the lower left hand side of the print is the inscription "J. AUSTIN. Sc.", around the bottom of the print is the inscription "A LETTER from the DIGGINGS", the print enclosed by a narrow circular border with semi-circles and curving lines. The rim of the flange chipped.
