Miranda

Minton and Hollins

Figure of a young woman, seated an a rock, head turned to left, left arm across body, hair loose, and dress open at left breast, wreath of shells on cotton strip pendent from right wrist, right foot on a large conch shell. Sybject is Miranda, daughter of Prospero in Shakespeare's The Tempest. Minton model no 245, introduced in January 1850, and shown at the Great Exhibition of 1851.
