S.S. ELFI. Built as the gunboat HMS Kildress. In 1918, she was delivered by Cochrane & Sons Ltd., at Selby to the RN. In 1920 she was sold to E. Jones of Southampton, converted into a cargo vessel and lengthened with a few meters. Subsequently, she was renamed Glynarthen. In 1925 she was sold to Southampton based Hannevig Brothers Ltd., clearly with Norwegian connections. In 1924 she was sold to D/S Martha A/S (H. Hannevig mgr.), of Horten (Norway). 1930 she was sold without change of name to K. Salvesen of Kragero (Norway). In 1936, Birger ekerholt of Oslo became owner and the vessel took the name of Reias. In 1937, ownership switched to Red. A/B Niord (Th. Arensberg mgr.), of Gothenburg (Sweden) In 1938, she went agian to Norway as Bjornvik, of A.F. Bjornstad Red. A/S, of Oslo. On 28 January 1942 she was bombed and sunk by German aircraft 8 miles east of Lizard Head.
