ss. ROGUE RIVER (10448gt) : T2-SE-A1 type tanker built 1944 by Alabama Dry Dock & Shipbuilding Co. (equipped with a steam turbo-electric transmission), for the US War Shipping Administration (restyled the US Maritime Commisssion from 1946). 1947 – Sold to British Tanker Co., London (restyled BP Tanker Co Ltd., from 1956), but retained her original name. 1959 – Sold to A/S Gerrards Rederi, Kristiansund, Norway, renamed HUNSFORS and used as a floating electricity power station. 1960 – Sold to Skibs A/S Abu, Oslo, managed by Magnus Konow A/S, and renamed APACHE. In 1961 she was rebuilt with a new forepart by Blohm & Voss AG, Hamburg, and converted to a buk carrier of 15781gt. 1968 – Sold to Philippine Pacific Shipping Co., Panama, and renamed PACMERCHANT, managed by Lasco Shipping Co., Portland, Oregon. She was broken up by Keun Hwa Steel Works & Engineering Co., at Kaosiung, in 1977. (Ted Finch / “The British Tankers” (N.L.Middlemiss)).
