Postcard
Postcard 'Welsh Costumes. Group of Welsh Peasant Women in National Costume'.
Postcards such as this popularised the image of the Welsh costume. Thousands were produced as souvenirs. They showed the Welsh lady drinking tea, reading the Bible or spinning outside her cottage. The aim was to portray Wales as a welcoming and wholesome place. Postcards contributed to the Welsh costume becoming a national icon.
