Smock
Child unbleached linen round smock-frock. Made in Cumbria by Isabel J. Price for an exhibition as a copy of a 'traditional Welsh woodman's smock'.
Embroidered with glazed linen thread. Square flap collars, no fastening. One button fastening at cuff. The smocking stitches are double cable, chain and double wave. The embroidery designs are leaves and coils in buttonhole stitch and lines and wave done in feather. These designs are repeated in front and back boxes, sleeve heads, cuffs and collars.
