Picture, woolwork
Woolwork picture of Penrhyn Castle, late 19th century. Canvas embroidered with coloured wools in cross stitch. The view of Penrhyn Castle on this sampler is apparently a copy of a lithograph by W. Crane of Chester, published about 1840 by Potter & Co, Caernarfon. (Source: Guide to the Collection of Samplers & Embroideries (Cardiff: National Museum of Wales, 1939) by F.G. Payne).
