Roman copper strigil

This copper strigil was originally made in two pieces and soldered together, the joint having been mended at some period by four brass rivets. The handle-loop, which had cracked at its lower junction with the blade, was also roughly riveted. The handle carries inlay depicting six of the canonical labours of Hercules, three on either side. Late 2nd century AD
