Roman samian bowl, decorated
Body sherd of a decorated bowl. Form 37, Central Gaulish. The panels include 1) a double medallion and a trifid motif, impressed vertically, 2) a draped figure, perhaps standing on a mask. The figure-type suggests the Paternus V group, of which only Censorinus II, Lastuca, Laxtucissa and Paternus himself seem to have used vertical astragalus borders, and only Censorinus and Laxtucissa the trifid motif. Both used the medallion, but neither is known to have used the figure. c. A.D. 150-190.
