France, badge of Legion d'Honneur
Legion d'Honneur Knight's badge awarded to Private Richard Arthur Mills. The Legion d'Honneur was awarded on 7 March 1999 to surviving Allied servicemen who fought on French territory during the Great War.
This example is one of approximately five awarded to surviving South Wales servicemen.
Private Richard Arthur Mills served in the Yorkshire Regiment (Green Howards) at Paschendaele and was later taken as a prisoner of war. He was born in Cardiff on the 5th July 1899, died 24th April 1999.
