Medieval wooden dagger hilt
Blade missing; the wooden pommel, hilt/grip and guard fastened with copper alloy rivets. Copper alloy tubes also pass through the pommel and the guard. A copper alloy binding strip marks the junction of the wooden pommel and grip pieces with the iron tang. The guard is protected on the blade side by a copper alloy disc of sheet metal.

Notes: found on the old 'Sarn Helen', or road, leading from Tomen-y-Mur to the castle, about 270 yards to the east of the old wall at a depth of approximately six feet in peat
