Small Teletubby soft toy based on the character Dipsy, late 1990s. Teletubbies was first aired in 1997 on the CBBC slot for children.
Since the 1950s, many of the most popular toys and games in Wales have been inspired by iconic BBC children’s television programmes.
Teletubby made from green synthetic fabric. Straight 'antenna' attached to crown of head. Inner ears made from beige synthetic fabric. Rectangular section at centre front chest made from blue texturised plastic material with a coating that gives it an iridescent effect. Face made from mid-brown moulded plastic. Details printed on in black, white, and two shades of brown. Soles of feet made from grey synthetic twill. Dots of grey plastic are adhered to the soles at regular intervals. Stitching in green thread to delineate fingers. Arms and back of head are stitched in such a way to allow insertion of 3 fingers to use the toy as a finger puppet. At the point of insertion at the head, there is a strip of white synthetic tape. Interior of toy is padded with Polyester wadding. Printed card label attached to rear with pastic tag. Printed fabric label attached to seam at rear.
